Short Steps Back in Time briefing session
Northern Ireland Screen intends to develop and finance one 90 minute portmanteau film from a group of Northern Ireland resident writers and directors. This group will be selected from those who took part in the Short Steps short film development scheme between 2003 and 2011. The film will be developed and produced between October 2012 and April 2014 through a development and production initiative called Short Steps Back in Time.
Northern Ireland Screen has organised a seminar and screening concentrating on writing for portmanteau films to run along side this initiative. The seminar will only be open to those who are eligible to apply and will be held on Thursday 9 August from 19:00 to 21:00 in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast.
What is a portmanteau film?
A portmanteau film is a feature length film made up of a short framing story and up to four short self contained stories that relate to the framing story through location or characters.
In the case of Short Steps Back in Time, it is up to five short films that can work separately as short stories but can also form a cohesive feature film.
